The youth should be fully sensitized about the aims and objectives of the Pakistan Movement



The youth should be fully sensitized about the aims and objectives of the Pakistan Movement so that they could wholly understand the rationale and importance of two-nation theory in its truest sense.
Managing Director PEF Tariq Mahmood said this while addressing the function at Nazaria Pakistan Trust (NPT) on Wednesday. The function was largely attended by the students of PEF partnering schools and their teachers who visited the NPT to pay homage to nation’s forefathers on the occasion of March 23.
MD PEF said that Muslims of the sub-continent have left lasting imprints on the history of south asia with their great sacrifices and secured our future with their dedicated struggle. It is because of their efforts that we are living today as independent citizens. This country is the result of sacrifices of our elders led by Quaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah; and now it’s our collective responsibility to make this country prosperous and strong so that our coming generations could live an amicable life with a sense of pride. He asked the teachers to educate the students about importance of Pakistan Day and how they can play their role in nation-building. Teachers should also pay attention to the character building of the students, he added.

The function was also addressed by Prof. Dr. Rafiq Ahmad, Begum Mehnaz Rafi and others.

Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) has employed master trainers at district level in the province for training of teachers of partner schools. These master trainers will also perform other field related assignments including monitoring of schools. It is expected that this tier will be much helpful in maintaining required quality standards by providing necessary support in maintaining smooth state of affairs.
          Managing Director PEF Tariq Mahmood said this while addressing the opening session of orientation meeting of master trainers at PEF head office on Tuesday. DMD (ops) Tariq Rafiq was also present on the occasion.
MD PEF said that high standards of transparency and cost-effectiveness have been achieved through a steady monitoring system which has also been helpful in improving organizational output and performance. Due to it, PEF has emerged as a role model organization, he added. He noted with satisfaction that complete record of 1.9 million partnering school students has been efficiently stored in PEF’s IT Server through state-of-the-art computerized software. Similarly, PEF has consistently been very successful in introducing different educational programs and partnering with the low cost private schools for providing free education to the deserving students in their districts. He further said that teachers’ training programs have also been introduced to improve the teaching capacity of school partners. These teachers are also taught about latest educational concepts so that they could perform better in future. He asked the master trainers to motivate other teachers to work with passion and inculcate intellectual inquisition in their students so that they could prove as symbols of success in the future.
          Different PEF officials also spoke on the occasion and briefed the participants about rules and regulations of the foundation.

Provincial Women Development Minister Hameeda Waheeduddin will inaugurate the modern daycare at the head office of Punjab Education Foundation at a colorful ceremony tomorrow. PEF Chairman Qamar ul Islam Raja and MD Tariq Mahmood, besides a large number of ladies staff, will also attend the ceremony.
Meanwhile, communication team of Punjab Education Foundation set up a colorful stall at the function held at Aiwan e Iqbal in connection with International Women's Day today. A large number of visitors, including women & children, visited the PEF stall and enquired about its working and role in the education sector. On the occasion, visitors were briefed about the powerful role of this foundation in promotion of education in the low income families. They were also given information-packs by the PEF staff.

PEF targets 2.3 million enrollment by the end of 2016
LAHORE, March 01:
As a result of continued annual expansions in the free educational initiatives of the Punjab Education Foundation (PEF), the total number of beneficiary students would rise to as much as 2.3 million by the end of this year.
          MD PEF Tariq Mahmood said this while briefing the program committee members about expansion plans in partnership with the private school partners at his office on Tuesday. The meeting which held with convener Dr. Amjad Saqib in the chair, reviewed different agenda-items including programs’ expansion & their budget estimations for the next financial year and effective exploitation of public private partnership based initiatives.
MD PEF gave a detailed presentation about foundation’s role and its contribution in providing free schooling facility to the deserving children at their doorsteps. He said that PEF is working hard to achieve different educational targets, adding that more than hundred monitoring and evaluation assistants have been hired to maintain effective monitoring mechanism of partner schools in districts. He told that inclusive education has been introduced for the needy differently-abled children in seven selected districts including Lahore. These students are studying side by side of the able students. The meeting was informed that capacity building of six thousand teachers has been planned through directorate of staff development. For this purpose, 145 trainings would be held in six different districts. The meeting observed that the process of teachers’ certification would help to improve the overall quality of education by introducing them new concepts in their subjects. It also noted with satisfaction the 45 percent ratio of girls in PEF sponsored schools and observed that this proportion may be further increased to 50 percent so that gender- equality could be fully maintained. Program directors briefed the meeting about their respective program’s performance.
          Dr. Amjad Saqib asked the program heads to work proactively and ensure that their school partners’ grievances are well taken care of so that the agenda of education-promotion could be achieved.
